Founder

The founder of ARTERRA — a scholar and entrepreneur who has spent his life where Japanese tea, art, and business meet.

He builds and advises tea houses in Kyoto, teaches entrepreneurship at Kobe University, and curates matcha for makers around the world. His work is guided by a single conviction: that tea, like art, deserves to be made with intention.

In brief

A rare span of tea, enterprise, and the academy.

Tea, like art, is made with intention.

Philosophy

Matcha as a medium, not a commodity.

Trained as an entrepreneur and a scholar of Art Thinking, Sato approaches tea the way an artist approaches material — with respect for tradition and an instinct for the new. From the tea rooms of Kyoto to a matcha smoothie that drew crowds at the Osaka Expo, his work lives where centuries-old craft meets contemporary design.

Through ARTERRA, he sources matcha for the world's most discerning cafés, makers, and brands — chosen not by origin, but by intent.
